Shipwize offers an overseas mail and package service. When you open an account with us you are given a US mailing address which consists of a Post Office Box and a streed address. You use the Post Office Box to receive mail and magazines and the street address to receive packages. Mail, magazines and packages are then sent to Jamaica where ShipWize provides customs clearance and deilvery to account holders.
You can receive packages of just about any size. What you have to keep in mind is that we use air freight only. Items such as furniture and large appliances can be sent through ShipWize, it just becomes very expensive to air freight as opposed to sending by sea freight. Large items that we often ship for account holders include items such as computers, electronics, car parts, ready-to-assemble furniture etc. (Please ensure that all shipments are packages properly as we will not accept liability for damage to goods due to improper packaging.)
How long does it take to receive mail and packages?
Deliveries are done either the same day or next business day after the cargo is cleared at the airport. From the time something gets to the mailbox or street address, it is usually 7 business days before it is delivered to you in Mandeville and Kingston.
Is there a charge for delivery if I select to have my mail and packages delivered?
There is no additional delivery charge for mail, magazines and small packages. A small delivery charge is added for large packages.
How do you deal with Customs Duty?
ShipWise services will pay Customs Duty and Customs GCT at the airport for all packages entering Jamaica. (In certain cases, we will ask the account holder to prepay customs duty prior to customs clearance.) However, such packages are billed COD.
Are my packages insured?
All packages will be insured at a cost of US$0.50 for each US$100.00 of declared value or portion therof. Proof of delivery to our Miami Office is required for all insurance claims. As a result, we do not recommend that you use Priority Mail for items of value unless the shipper has purchased Signature Confirmation for that package. If you do not want your packages insured, you will be required to sign a refusal form. We do not accept liability for glass and ceramics that are not packaged properly.
Is there anything that I cannot receive through my ShipWize account?
Items considered to be Dangerous Goods by Aviation Regulations will be put on hold in Miami and will not be sent to Jamaica. These items include all aerosol cans and hazardous chemicals. If in doubt, please call us before shipping such items.
Does shipwize provide pick up services in Miami?
We can provide pick up service for packages that you want sent to you in Jamaica. This service is at an additional cost quoted on an individual basis
